Gardner Family Praises Efforts of Fire Fighters
November 8, 2004
From The Zahner Family, Kurt, Pat, Kate, Kim, Kami, Gardner
By the time this is published the holiday season will be in full swing. A time for family, friends, good will, etc.
Well, let me tell you, our holiday season will be very different from the previous year's because our house burned on November 8, 2004.
But, you know what? We're still here to talk about it, and because of the quick thinking, and thoughtful actions of the Gardner Fire Department, and other fire departments that responded, most of the contents of our home were saved.
The firefighters went above and beyond what anyone would even imagine.
Example: They find a billfold on a counter top and bring it out to us;
Our daughter mentions that she's left schoolwork and the text books are in the part of the house that's filled with smoke, next thing we know, my daughter is handed her schoolwork;
The firefighters take pictures off the wall and try to get them out of harms way.
Their actions were unbelievable. The did their job in a way that made our situation much more bearable.
Our family is very fortunate to have survived this ordeal. We feel that we will be more resilient as a result of it.
We want to take this opportunity to let everyone know that the community of Gardner is very luck to have the type of firefighters that we do!
They are top notch!
Heroes in our eyes!
