MDA Boot Block

The fire service has a long and distinguished history of supporting the Muscular Dystrophy Association and Fire District #1 is proud to be a part of that history. Since it's inception the Fire District has worked hard to support the needs of our community and the needs of others. Through our participation in the MDA Boot Blocks standing alongside our fellow firefighters of Fire District #1, IAFF Local #3559, Firefighters Support Group and Gardner DPS we have combined to raise tens of thousands of dollars that goes to directly help those struck by Muscular Dystrophy.

Hurricane Katrina Relief Efforts:

Fire District #1, IAFF Local #3559 and Gardner DPS teamed up again this year to do their part to fight Muscular Dystrophy.  This partnership has been an outstanding success in the past and has proven to be yet again.  This years total collection for our boot blocked topped $6,000.00. This puts our total for the past five years at nearly $30,000! This type of consistent effort  through out the nation by IAFF locals was the ingredient for this years record donation to the MDA of 21,000,000! A portion of these proceeds were generously donated by the MDA to the victims of Hurricane Katrina, proving that there is no boundary to kindness.
