Disaster Medical

Part 1 of Disaster Medical Operations includes an introduction to disaster medical situations. It will include recognizing and treating life-threatening conditions, triage, and practical applications. Disaster Medical Operations Part 2 concentrates on the organization of disaster medical operations. Participants will learn how to conduct head-to-toe assessments; establish treatment areas; treat burns and wounds; treat fractures, sprains and strains; splinting; treating hypothermia and frostbite. Members will learn about public health considerations and apply in a practical scenario their disaster medical skills.
Light Search & Rescue

Light search and rescue includes aspects of planning, search and rescue size-up, conducting search operations, and conducing rescue operations.
Team Organization>

The final elements of the CERT program will include the organization of CERT teams, and decision making. Team participants will learn about disaster psychology (how such events can affect not only victims, but CERT members as well). Also addressed will be how the teams are incorporated into the emergency response community's Incident Management System.
The Finale

The finale for the course will be a written take home exam, drills, and exercise that tests the skills acquired during the training program. Upon completion of all units of the CERT Program, Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) certificates will be issued.
