The fire service today is much different than in the past. The clatter of hoof beats along cobble streets, racing steam powered fire engines ever closer to the call, while a trusted Dalmatian runs along side. This is what many picture when they think of firefighters. Perhaps they also picture a lone firefighter, wearing only coat and helmet, carrying a small child from a smoke filled window down a rustic wooden ladder. These images are just a small part of the wonderful history of the fire service. These images as fact are long since gone, but remain entrenched as concepts. There is one tradition, however, to which the fire service has never deviated. If you call, we will come.
Fire District #1 is proud to serve our community with the same unwavering pride as the firefighters of the past, while preparing our members to be the stewards of the future. Firefighters today are required to respond to many different types of emergencies. This necessity has caused the fire service to adapt to its current environment and rise to the challenges it faces. Fire District #1 is no exception. We pride ourselves on our training and we dedicate ourselves to the commitment to provide the best possible service for the citizens of our community.
The Men and Women you will see here are a wonderful team that works diligently to ensure your safety. They do, quite literally, put themselves in harms way to protect you and others. Please feel free to stop by and visit any one of our stations in your community and get to know some of these fine people it is my privilege to work with.
