Fire District #1- Johnson County, KS

Fire District #1 serves Southwest Johnson County, KS which include the city's of Edgerton and Gardner as well and Gardner and McCamish Townships. We also protect the Gardner Municipal Airport and New Century Air Center which is the 5th busiest airport in the state. Additionally, Logistics Park KC, the largest economic development site in the western 2/3 of the United States is in our district.

Now Accepting Applications

Fire District #1 of Johnson County is currently accepting applications for the position of Volunteer Firefighter. Fire District #1 is seeking applicants who have Firefighter 1, Firefighter 2 and EMT, or currently working on those certifications. Fire District #1 gives future firefighters a great opportunity to gain quality experience in the fire service. Fire District #1 also hires all full-time personnel from their volunteer staff. If you would like to be considered for a volunteer position at Fire District #1 then please pick up an application Monday through Friday between 8-4 at Station 121. The next Fire Board Meeting scheduled for January 10th will be at 6:30 PM at Station 1, 490 New Century PKWY. Please check back for updates. Board Meetings are regularly scheduled for the Second Tuesday of the month.

Open Burning

EFFECTIVE APRIL 1-30, OPEN BURNING IS RESTRICTED THROUGHOUT FIRE DISTRICT #1 PER THE FOLLOWING STATE REGULATION: Kansas Administrative Regulation (K.A.R.) 28-19-645a, Open Burning Restrictions for Certain Counties During the Month of April. Burning that will continue to be allowed in these counties during April include agricultural burning related to the management of prairie or grasslands (range or pasture management) and conservation reserve program (CRP) burning activities. Restricted activities include burning of materials such as land clearing debris, crop residues, construction debris, & fire fighter training burns.
